About us – leaguebetsnz
leaguebetsnz explains rugby league betting, and betting more widely, in the way the New Zealand market works: what a price implies, how a line differs from a straight win market, what an offer requires and where the law stands. Bets are not accepted, tips are not for sale and no return is promised, as a bet that cannot lose does not exist.
Limits of the site
No accounts are kept and no money changes hands. Text that sounds like a recommendation is a description, and inclusion on a page is never a licence.
How the legal position is established
Since only one provider is lawful, New Zealand has no register of licensed bookmakers. TAB NZ, with TAB and Betcha, is the sole provider that may offer racing and sports betting to people in New Zealand, from 28 June 2025. The sources are the Department of Internal Affairs, the Racing Industry Act 2020 and the Racing Industry Amendment Act 2025. An overseas bookmaker holds no licence here, and the Department says an overseas company offering these bets is breaking the law. According to those sources, the law is aimed at the operator and not at the punter.
Use of sources
A provider’s own terms, help pages and footers supply facts about it, and statutes and public-body publications supply legal ones. Because odds and promotions change fast, a figure is given with the time and place it applied. When sources run out, the point is explained in words, without an invented number.
Readers
The site speaks to adults in New Zealand; betting with TAB NZ is open from 18. It is not legal or tax advice. Anyone who feels betting is taking over can get in touch with the Gambling Helpline or Safer Gambling Aotearoa.
