Racing
Racing is the other half of what TAB NZ does, and a league punter sees it on the same betting slip. This section describes the basics.
The Melbourne Cup, other horse racing and greyhounds are all included. A bet can go on fixed odds or into the tote, which pays a dividend. Terms from TAB NZ’s rules include trifecta, first four, quinella, exacta, win, place and each way.
Starting 1 August 2026, greyhound racing is closed in stages, and offshore operators cannot take greyhound bets from then on. The Racing Integrity Board has oversight of the sport.
